Core Rotations

Internal Medicine Program

The Internal Medicine Program at LMMHC provides Transitional Year Program residents with robust clinical training through rotations in inpatient medicine, ambulatory care clinic, and the medical intensive care unit (MICU). Each resident completes 5 to 6 four-week blocks annually in Internal Medicine.

In addition to hands-on clinical experience, residents engage in a comprehensive didactic curriculum, which includes:

  • Daily noon conferences

  • Morning report

  • Weekly grand rounds

  • Mortality and Morbidity (M&M) conferences

These educational sessions are designed to reinforce core internal medicine principles, improve diagnostic reasoning, and promote evidence-based clinical decision-making.

Emergency Medicine Program

The Emergency Medicine Program at LMMHC offers comprehensive adult emergency and urgent care rotations for residents in the Transitional Year Program. Each resident completes a total of 8 weeks of Emergency Medicine rotations annually, gaining hands-on experience in acute care settings.

In addition to clinical training, residents participate in structured didactic education, which includes:

  • Weekly conferences

  • Grand rounds

  • Mortality and Morbidity (M&M) conferences

These educational components are designed to enhance clinical reasoning, support evidence-based practice, and foster continuous professional development in emergency care.

 General Surgery

The General Surgery Program at LMMHC provides Transitional Year residents with 8 weeks of clinical experience annually in both inpatient surgical care and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).

Residents also participate in structured didactic sessions designed to reinforce surgical knowledge, procedural skills, and critical care principles relevant to surgical practice.
